when: 27 Jun 2026 | cost: FREE | address: 100 Larkin Street, San Francisco, CA 94102, USAA live Dungeons & Dragons event at SFPL (Main Branch), featuring local tabletop storytellers and Damon Runyon scientists!
Join us at the Koret Auditorium in the San Francisco Public Library (Main Branch) for the very first Roleplay by the Bay: a one-day live Dungeons & Dragons event celebrating science, storytelling, and collaborative gaming!
The day begins with a special interview panel at 10:15AM, featuring scientists from the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation. They will discuss the career paths that led them into science, and offer a look at the amazing work they do in the field of cancer biology and medicine.
After the panel, from 11:00AM-1:00PM, the scientists will step into a fantasy adventure of their own in a live Dungeons & Dragons adventure led by Dungeon Master Gregory Wilson. See what happens when science meets fantasy as the researchers become heroes and roll the dice against the monsters and perils of D&D!
The final event of the day is from 2:00PM-5:00PM, featuring former teen interns from SFPL’s YouthWorks D&D Program in a live D&D adventure led by Dungeon Master Zac Clay. This game will showcase the creativity, confidence, and storytelling skills of the young people who have helped bring Dungeons & Dragons programming to San Francisco's library community!
Whether you are a longtime D&D fan, curious about tabletop roleplaying games, interested in science research and communication, or simply looking for a unique live event, we invite you to enjoy a day of science and performance art with Roleplay by the Bay!
