when: 20 September 2024 | venue: UTS Gallery | cost: Member $$50 | address: Level 4, 702 Harris Street, Ultimo NSW 2007Join us in exploring two galleries in the inner Sydney suburbs of Ultimo and Camperdown.
Our first stop is UTS Gallery to view If the Mountain is Burning, Let it Burn. This solo exhibition by Claudia Nicholson features new photographic and recent video work that draws from Nicholson’s archive of over 200 photographs of her birthplace Colombia and her life in Australia.
We will then continue to Chau Chak Wing Museum to view two group exhibitions.
Kerameikos: the Potters' Quarter brings together seven leading Australian ceramic artists to create a contemporary potters' quarter within the museum. In ancient Athens, Kerameikos was the potter’s quarter, a hub of innovation where artisans produced some of the most sought-after ceramics of the Mediterranean region.
The second exhibition is The Trace is not a Presence..., featuring artworks by Dongwang Fan, Jenna Lee, Cyrus Tang, John Young and Louise Zhang. Using historical documents and cultural objects, the exhibition will explore trace, time, history, memory and notions of authenticity.
