when: 08 Oct 2024 | venue: Haberfield Library | cost: Adult $25 | address: 78-80 Dalhousie Street, Haberfield NSW 2045Gathering to discuss the state of life over a creative practice has long had benefits for communities, from ‘stitch ‘n bitch’ social knitting circles to the more recent emergence of ‘paint and sip’ commercial offers for friend groups. Whilst these play an important role in providing creative outlets in social settings, art has a deeper role in both understanding mental health and providing therapeutic pathways.
Mental wellbeing is key to a resilient and vibrant arts and culture sector, and this event will explore the role that arts can play for the Arts sector! Featuring a panel discussion that explores the intersection of creative practice and mental health, this event will also give you an opportunity to get hands on with the speakers’ different approaches, from VR to art therapy.
Speakers: Professor Jill Bennett; Emily Fitzgerald - Come As You Art; Support Act
