Located at the University of Melbourne’s Southbank Campus, in the heart of the Melbourne Arts Precinct, it is one of Melbourne’s must-see exhibition spaces – and admission is free.
Designed by renowned architects Fender Katsalidis, the museum is comprised of four public exhibition galleries, teaching facilities, and the largest outdoor screen in Australia dedicated to the display of moving image art.
Buxton Contemporary uses the Michael Buxton Collection as a foundation and inspiration for exhibitions, performance, research, teaching and publishing. The collection of more than 350 major artworks is widely recognised as one of the most important collections of recent Australian art held anywhere in the world.
