when: 20 Aug 2026 | venue: Hollywood Bowl | address: 2301 North Highland Avenue, Los Angeles 90068Join us in celebrating Gustavo Dudamel’s legacy as LA Phil Music & Artistic Director at the Hollywood Bowl! After 17 years of pushing the boundaries of classical music and exploring genres of all kinds, Dudamel leads a program that represents his belief in the life-changing power of music.
A devoted Beethoven champion, Dudamel invites us into the realm of uplift and inspiration that is his Ninth Symphony. The famed work features “Ode to Joy,” the composer’s testament to freedom, peace, and unity. “We have to believe in the text,” Dudamel says. “‘Freude, Freude!’ (Joy, joy!)...We have to end by embracing each other!”
The evening begins with a world premiere from the Oscar-winning composer behind Disney’s The Incredibles, Coco, Up, and Ratatouille. Michael Giacchino’s new orchestral piece features a children’s choir singing lyrics by Amanda Gorman—the first poet to perform at the Super Bowl and the youngest presidential inaugural poet in US history.
