Exclusive In-Person Member Screening—Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight 2025

published: 30 Jun 2025, 2 min read

when: 02 Jul 2025 | venue: Los Angeles County Museum Of Art (LACMA) | cost: $25-$30 | address: 5905 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles 90036

Artist Lauren Lee McCarthy is developing her own autonomous vehicle. Through a series of test drives, the public is invited into the process. Auto is freedom. Auto is ease. Auto is the feeling of moving at high speed into the future with no one in the driver’s seat. Auto is letting go of control. Passengers are presented with a question: where do we want to go? Each ride is different as new features are tested in a play between automation and control. As the trip progresses, the distinction between system and human blurs—the riders become Auto.

Auto Tune, a signage work by Lauren Lee McCarthy and Casey Reas, will also be on display on the Smidt Welcome Plaza in the week leading up to the performance.

This program requires timed entry. Visitors can participate by signing up for a 45-minute time slot. The performance is designed for a full car and parties are highly encouraged to have four guests to ensure the best experience.

Visitors are encouraged to check in 10 minutes prior to their session. If they are not checked in 10 minutes after their scheduled time, it will be opened to someone on the waiting list.
