when: 16 November 2024 | venue: Malthouse Theatre | address: Malthouse Theatre, 113 Sturt St, Southbank 3006Internationally acclaimed percussionist Claire Edwardes OAM, a champion of the contemporary classical genre, leads the Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO) Momentum Ensemble in a program of living, breathing music.
Australian artists are the centrepiece of this collaboration, with a world premiere by composer Alice Chance, and the inimitable Ross Edwards’ Laikan. From the culture and connection of works by Brenda Gifford to the earthy atmospheres of Mary Finsterer’s Silva, the diversity and innovation of Australia’s artistic voices bloom in these evocative works.
Paired with Molly Joyce’s exploration of creativity and disability in Lost and Found, and the luminous South Catalina by Chris Cerrone, this program is electric.
