when: 11 Apr 2026 | venue: Patricia Sweetow Gallery | cost: Free | address: 1700 Santa Fe Ave. Ste 351 Los Angeles, Los Angeles 90021Join us in the gallery for a lively conversation with artists Julia Couzens and Sarah Amos. There will be a reception with light refreshments immediately after.
Working intuitively rather than executing preconceived ideas, Julia Couzens’ singular approach to her studio practice begins in picking through practical things around her, the mundane heap of life. Taking these things as they are, alert to what comes alive in her hand and triggers her senses, Couzens fashions abstract works both improvisational and acutely considered.
Sarah Amos is a master printmaker who defies the traditions of printmaking; instead, she explores the opulent hand and texture of textiles. Drawing on the influence of Japanese prints, architecture, and the graphic symbolism and movement of manga, Amos has developed a body of work that pushes printmaking into a richer, more expansive terrain.
