when: 17 Oct 2024 | venue: Phoenix Central Park | cost: Free | address: 37-49 O’Connor Street, Chippendale NSW 2008Maina Doe represents the multi-faceted nature of contemporary music, with earnest experimentation at her core. Born and raised in the Indonesian city of Bandung, Maina was enveloped in a vibrant, tropical environment that lit her creative spark, and she began singing from an early age.
Later moving to Sydney, Australia, Maina dived headfirst into the city's creative communities, participating in writing and vocal sessions with talents from Sydney's burgeoning jazz, soul and R&B communities, which lead to independent single releases ‘Delusion’ and ‘Unwritten Laws’ featuring Genesis Owusu, which garnered support from Soulection, Rinse FM and Jamz Supernova.
Since, Maina Doe has been lauded for her singles, receiving support from BBC Radio, Vice, Notion, Soulection, Rinse FM and Vogue, among others. She has performed support slots for the likes of Masego, Winston Surfshirt, and Tkay Maidza. Last year, she made her headline debut at a sold-out show at the Sydney Opera House for festival Vivid Live.
Maina Doe will perform at Phoenix Central Park on Thursday 17 October 2024.
Free tickets via ballot only.
