when: 14 - 22 September 2024 | venue: Darling Harbour | cost: Free | address: Darling Harbour, Sydney NSW 2000The Moon Festival is also known as Mid-Autumn Festival is the second grandest festival in China after the Lunar New Year.
It is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, which is always in the middle of the autumn season in China. At this time of the year the moon is believed to be at its fullest and brightest. In Chinese culture the full moon symbolises reunion so families reunite for celebrations to worship and appreciate the moon together, and share mooncakes to celebrate.
Reconnect with friends and family to honour the Moon Festival in the Chinese Garden of Friendship. Explore the beauty of the Penjing Exhibition presented by The School of Bonsai, and immerse yourself in cultural experiences including calligraphy demonstrations, music performances, and tea tasting sessions.
Don't miss the chance to create your own lantern, and savour the unique tradition of moon cake making.
Celebrate together in this serene oasis of peace and joy.
In Darling Square be immersed in a world of colour as you dine and dance amongst hundreds of lanterns. Taste the traditional flavours of the festival, taking home Moon Cakes to share with your loved ones. Get up and groove with DJs and traditional Chinese entertainment.
