Join us at this free event in honoring the accomplishments of Black queer individuals, both past and present, as part of an ongoing initiative to elevate the stories and contributions of Black LGBTQ+ communities.

Movie Screening: Screening of the 35th anniversary of Paris is Burning, a landmark documentary film that explores the vibrant underground ballroom scene in New York City during the 1980s, primarily focused on the Black and Latinx LGBTQ+ community, showcasing their "houses," fierce competition in dance and fashion categories, and the concept of "chosen family" within this unique culture, all while highlighting the struggles they faced with racism, homophobia, and the AIDS crisis.

Panel Discussion: Insights from Black community members on the history and future of ballroom culture and Black queer identity.
