1. Foundational Concepts: Explore the living legacy of traditional Mexican medicine. Learn about the balance of cold and hot (Frio y Calor), Vital energy, firmness of the spirit and discover how energy flows in ways that mirror modern scientific insights—even if expressed through the language of our ancestors.
2. Cultural and Spiritual Context: Delve into the role of the traditional midwife (partera) as a guardian of family, culture, and community. Understand how indigenous practices have maintained a relationship with the land, spirituality, and inherited wisdom, serving as a source of healing and resistance against the wounds of colonization.
3. Rebozo as a Living Tool: Learn about the history and cultural significance of the rebozo—its evolution, symbolism, and practical uses. Through this gentle yet powerful textile, discover simple, authentic techniques to support pregnancy, labor, and postpartum recovery. The rebozo becomes an extension of your hands, offering comfort, alignment, and energy regulation during the birth process.
4. Holistic Care and Emotional Health: we will understand the importance of emotional heatlth and support during pregnancy and birth. We’ll reflect how humanized birth practices—avoiding invasive interventions and fostering environments of care, respect, and informed choice—can transform the birthing experience. You will also gain insights into basic trauma-informed approaches that help maintain a calm, centered presence during transformative moments.
5. Healing Practices and Postpartum Rituals: Gain an introductory understanding of postpartum care from a traditional perspective. From rebozo binding for physical support to rituals that honor the opening and closing of birth energies, these practices are imbued with ancestral memory and aim to restore balance, nurture recovery, and affirm the sacredness of the birthing process.
