when: 17 - 23 October 2024 | venue: Art Space on The Concourse | cost: Free | address: 409 Victoria Avenue, Chatswood, 2067

A multi-disciplinary arboreal exhibition by the Tree Veneration Society.

The Tree Veneration Society invites you to immerse yourself in an enchanting tree grove with their latest exhibition, Sacred Grove in Your Street. This showcase celebrates the majestic beauty and intricate diversity of urban trees, where towering trunks, swirling leaves, and tangled branches form a vibrant canopy that nurtures and shelters urban wildlife. The variety of forms, shapes and textures found in these verdant canopies are an expression of the biodiversity found in healthy, thriving natural environments.

Inspired by the local bushland of Willoughby City—home to significant native flora, fauna, and walking tracks —this exhibition aims to deepen our connection to and appreciation of these vital green spaces. It encourages communities to recognise, preserve, and cherish their local "sacred groves".

The artists of the eco-arts collective, the Tree Veneration Society, use their diverse artistic practices to spark dialogue and foster a greater understanding of the critical role that trees and ecosystems play in our well-being and the health of our planet. The exhibition presents a family-friendly, intergenerational experience, featuring a range of multi-disciplinary media including painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, drawing, installation, film, and projection. For more information on the society please visit the Tree Veneration Society website.

Be enthralled as you are welcomed by the Green Man who offers reflections on the significance of trees, as you step into a darkened space with light, sound and imagery that brings the grove to life with projections of canopies, twirling leaves, tangled branches, and native animals cast dynamic shadows, creating a tapestry of bushland beauty.

Sacred Grove in Your Street not only enhances your awareness of local environmental treasures but also leaves you inspired and uplifted by the natural beauty that surrounds us.
