The neurotic, hilarious, charming, meta indie comedy you’ve been waiting for, The Heirloom is a perfect little movie with the cutest dog and all the loudest laughs! When Eric, a control-freak filmmaker, succumbs to his restless partner Allie’s campaign to get a dog, he insists upon adopting a rescue. What comes their way is Milly, a traumatized whippet arriving via airplane with an unknown past from the Dominican Repub-lic. Eager to master the dog-training process, Eric enforces an ideology that emphasizes inner strength and his role as leader of the pack. But the renewed sense of meaning that this paternal role brings Eric is thrown into chaos when he is seized by inspira-tion that spills recklessly across his art and his life, taking Allie and Milly along with him. Meanwhile, Allie’s nostalgia for memories lost to childhood sets loose the wrath of long-suppressed intuitions, and the creeping dawn of a deeper calling in her life. Part romcom, part rescue-dog story, part family scrap-book, and always devotedly funny, The Heirloomis a deeply intimate and personal chamber-piece about a long-term couple struggling desperately to become a family. Highly relatable, remarkably endearing, and over-the-top funny – The Heirloom is everything you want your indie cinema to be, and more!
